Nothing to complain about.

I’ve been a big complainer the last month-things hurt, I can’t sleep, people don’t give me a seat on public transportation, yadda yadda yadda.

Last night through the connections on the internets, I ran into the blog of my college boyfriend’s fiance, HM. HM is 33—same age as me. Her blog begins when she starts chemo for stage III breast cancer last May. She goes through 4 rounds of chemo, loses her hair/eyebrows/eyelashes, gets sores inside her mouth and nose, bleeds from her gums, poops blood, contracts various viruses/bacteria from not having an immune system anymore, etc all the while keeping a pretty positive attitude for the most part. Oh yeah, and at the end of all of this, she tops it off by having a double mastectomy.

Before all of the treatment started, they had to visit a fertility specialist to see what they could do before the chemo and radiation eradicate any chance of them conceiving. They ended up not doing anything because it was too expensive and they weren’t sure how their situation would turn out.

I’ve never met HM but after reading her blog, I realize have absolutely nothing to complain about. And in honor of her, I’m not going to complain for the rest of my pregnancy. Lucas and I are so lucky when there are so many that have sad stories to share. So far, HM is doing ok and I wish them both a long happy life together.
